Hi I'm Dana and I'm the enumerator for your area...
So, I've now done two days of census work. I was going to go today but felt sick so decided that wouldn't be a good idea. The first day was interesting. Met lots of dogs (they were all pretty nice - thanks for asking Karina!) But had to do a lot of backtracking and put on around 200km. Then I worked on Tuesday and then SarahJane and I went out yesterday. Yep in the snow and rain. Fun? Not so much. The roads were terrible and there were a few that we couldn't even go down. But we got to have a good chat and it was really nice knowing that there was someone waiting for me in the car when I went into some pretty sketchy houses. Met some interesting people and was amazed at how some people live. Tomorrow Dane is going with me, then I'm dragging Zach along on the weekend and then hopefully Wendy will be able to come with me on Monday. Hopefully I'm able to get this all finished by next Wednesday.
Baby is getting bigger by the day and kicking me lots. I actually decided the other day that I'm glad I still have three months before the baby's here. We have lots to do and lately I'm starting to panic about it not just being Zach and I anymore. We will soon be parents. (although I guess we sort of are already) Life is never going to be the same. We'll never be able to just do whatever we want. I won't be able to just call my friends and hang out or just read all day or leave the house whenever I want. We will always have to think of the baby. AHHH!
As excited as I am to meet our child - I'm glad that there's still some time to adjust. I don't know why I'm feeling this way all of a sudden - it's strange. (hopefully normal?)
Tomorrow I have a dr's appointment and have to get a glucose screening test to make sure that my blood sugar is normal. I've been feeling pretty good so hope all is well. I weighed myself at my parents today and according to their scale have lost a couple pounds again so have only gained ten. Yay - the less I gain the less I have to lose afterwards. And trust me - the baby is not starving... I eat ALL the time and my stomach is definitely growing.
That's my life right now, think of me if/when an enumerator comes to your door and be friendly to them. Don't make them stand out in the rain and maybe even offer them the use of your bathroom if they seem like they need it :)
